The purpose of the change feed is to provide transaction logs of all changes made to blobs and blob metadata in your storage account. The change feed providesordered,Guaranteed,constant,immutable,read onlyA log of these changes. Client applications can read these records at any time, either in streaming or batch mode. Each change generates exactly one transaction log entry, so you don't need to maintain multiple log entries for the same change. With a change feed, you can create efficient and scalable solutions that cost-effectively handle change events that occur in your blob storage account.

How the change feed works
Change feed records are saved ascorpsesby default in a dedicated container in your storage accountblob pricescosts. You can control the storage period of these files according to your needs (seeConditionscurrent version). Change events are attached as records in the change feedApache AvroFormat Specification: A compact, fast binary format that provides rich data structures with built-in schema. This format is commonly used in the Hadoop ecosystem, Stream Analytics, and Azure Data Factory.
You can process these logs asynchronously, incrementally, or in full. Any number of client applications can read the change feed independently, in parallel, and at their own pace. Analytics applications such asApache drillorApache Sparkcan consume records directly as Avro files, allowing you to process them cheaply and at high throughput without having to write a custom application.

Support for change feeds is suitable for scenarios where data is processed based on changed objects. Applications can, for example:
- Update secondary index, sync with cache, search engine or other content management scenarios.
- Extract business analytics insights and metrics based on changes made to your objects in streaming or batch mode.
- Store, audit and analyze changes to your objects over any period of time to ensure security, compliance or enterprise data management information.
- Build solutions to backup, mirror or replicate the state of objects in your disaster management or compliance account.
- Build connected application pipelines that respond to change events, or schedule executions based on created or changed objects.

Note
The changelog provides a persistent, ordered, historical model of changes made to a blob. Changes are logged within minutes of the change and become available in your change feed log. If your application needs to react much faster to events, consider using itBlob data storage eventsinstead of this.Blob storage eventsIt provides one-off real-time events that allow your Azure functions or applications to quickly react to changes that occur in the blob.
Enable and disable feed switching
You must enable changes on your storage account to start recording and record changes. Disable the change feed to stop changes being recorded. You can enable and disable changes using Azure Resource Manager templates in the portal or PowerShell.
Keep the following in mind when you enable the change feed.
There is only one change feed for the blob service in each storage account. Change feed records are stored in the$blobchangefeedContainer.
Create, update, and delete changes are logged only at the blob service level.
The feed changes recordsalreadychange for all available events that occur on the account. Client applications can filter event types as needed. (LookConditionscurrent version).
Only Standard General Purpose v2, Premium Block Blob and Blob Storage accounts can enable change feed. Hierarchical namespace enabled accounts are not currently supported. Version 1 general-purpose storage accounts are not supported, but can be upgraded to version 2 general-purpose storage accounts non-disruptively, seeUpgrade to a GPv2 storage accountfor more information.

Consume a change of food
The change feed produces several metadata and log files. These files are in the$blobchangefeedAccount container for storage. The$blobchangefeedThe container can be viewed either through the Azure portal or through the Azure Storage Explorer.
Your client applications can consume the change feed using the blob change feed processor library provided with the change feed processor SDK. For information on processing records in the change feed, seeProcess change feed logs in Azure Blob Storage.
Change feed segments
The change summary is a log of organized changescompany sectionbut it is added and updated every few minutes. These segments are created only when blob change events occur that hour. This allows your client application to process changes that occur within specific time periods without having to search the entire log. For more information seetechnical data.
An available hourly change feed segment is described in a manifest file that lists the paths to the change feed files for that segment. List of$blobchangefeed/idx/segmenti/
The virtual directory displays these segments in chronological order. The path of a segment describes the beginning of the hourly time range that the segment represents. You can use this list to filter the log segments that interest you.

The container will only appear after you enable the feed switching feature in your account. After you enable the change feed, you have to wait a few minutes before you can print the blobs in the container.
Changing event records
Change feed files contain a series of change event records. Each change event record corresponds to a single blob change. Records are serialized and written to a file usingApache Avroformat specification. Records can be read using the Avro file format specification. Several libraries are available to process files in this format.
Change feed files are stored in the$blobchangefeed/log/
virtual directory asadd specks. The first change feed file under each track has00000
in the file name (eg00000.avro
). The name of each subsequent log file added to this path is incremented by 1 (example:00001.avro
).
Event record schemes
For a description of each property, seeAzure Event Grid event schema for storing blob objects. The BlobPropertiesUpdated and BlobSnapshotCreated events are currently exclusive to change feeds and are not yet supported for Blob Storage events.
Note
Change feed files for a segment do not appear immediately after the segment is created. The length of the delay is within the normal change feed posting latency interval, which is within minutes of the change.

Change event records are only added to the change feed. Once these records are added, they are immutable and the record position is stable. Client applications can maintain their own checkpoint at the position of reading the change feed.

Change event records are sorted by change orderafter the corpse. The order of changes in blobs is not defined in Azure Blob Storage. Any changes in the previous segment take precedence over any changes in the following segments.

Conditions and known issues
This section describes known issues and conditions in the current version of the change feed.
- The
URL
The log file property is currently always empty. - The
Last Consumable
The segments.json file property does not specify the first segment that the change feed finalizes. This problem occurs only after the first segment is completed. All subsequent segments after the first hour were accurately recordedLast Consumable
Property. - You can't see this right now$blobchangefeedContainer when calling the ListContainers API. You can view the content by calling the ListBlobs API directly on the $blobchangefeed container.
- Storage account redirectionnot supported for accounts with change feed enabled. Disable the change feed before starting failover.
- Storage accounts that have previously run oneKonto-FailoverThere may be issues with not displaying the log file. Future account upgrades may also affect the log file.
- You may see 404 (Not Found) and 412 (Prerequisite Failed) errors$blobchangefeedI$blobchangefeedsysContainer. Feel free to ignore these errors.

Questions
What is the difference between a change feed and Storage Analytics logging?
Analytics logs contain records of all read, write, list, and delete operations with successful and failed requests for all operations. Analysis protocols are best-effort protocols and the order is not guaranteed.
Change Feed is a solution that provides a transactional log of successful mutations or changes in your account, eg B. Creating, modifying and deleting blocks. The change feed ensures that all events are logged and displayed in the order of successful changes per blob, so you don't have to filter out the distractions of a large volume of reads or failed requests. The change feed is fundamentally designed and optimized for application development that requires certain safeguards.
Should I use feed switching or store events?
You can use both functions as a feed changer andBlob data storage eventsProvide the same information with the same guarantee of delivery reliability, the main difference being the latency, ordering and storage of event recordings. The change feed publishes entries to the log within minutes of a change and also guarantees the order of change operations per blob. Storage events are broadcast in real time and cannot be ordered. Change feed events are permanently stored in your storage account as persistent read-only logs with your defined retention, while storage events are transient and consumed by the event handler unless you specifically store them. With a change feed, any number of your applications can freely consume logs using the blob API or SDKs.
